Tobacco Free Partners Celebrate 5th Annual Community Recognition Event on November 12th at The Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls.

Local elected officials were recognized at the Southern Adirondack Tobacco Free Partner's Recognition Event for their support for retailers to voluntary reduce or remove tobacco advertising at retail stores viewed by children. L to R: Town of Bolton Board Members, Rob MacEwan, Owen Maranville and Supervisor Kathy Simmes; Mechanicville Mayor Anthony Sylvester; Wilton Town Board Member Chuck Gerber for their adoption of tobacco free policy at Gavin Park; Town of Moreau Board Member, Thomas Cumm; Town of Greenfield Supervisor Dick Rowland; Town of Moreau Deputy Supervisor, Gina LeClair, and Town of Moreau Supervisor Preston Jenkins.

Assemblywoman Sayward addressed the crowd of nearly 130 with a strong message of support for tobacco free community partners and their success in reducing youth tobacco use.

Village officials are honored by the Southern Adirondack Tobacco Free
Coalition for their signing of a resolution urging local stores to
reduce tobacco advertising both inside and outside their stores.

Parents and children at the Fort Ann celebration signed oversized cards
to be delivered to store owners in the community, asking for tobacco ads
to be less visible in their stores


The Southern Adirondack Tobacco Free Coalition was a co=sponsor of Winterfest in Saratoga Springs this Februray along with STAR 101.3 radio station.  Packets of materials on tobacco advertising in retail stores were given out to families stopping by the city's Visitior Center.  Over 250 Packets were given out and our banner and signs were prominently displayed.

The Southern Adirondack Tobacco Free Coalition (SATFC) sponsored pilot Glenn Horton and Tree Hugger (Ballooon) at the Cambridge Valley Balloon Festival, June 2006. SATFC staff talked with local residents about smoke free homes and vehicles and promoted the "Who's Minding the Store?" campaign to reduce and eliminate tobacco ads in retail stores.

SATFC staffs an information and resource booth at the All About Pets Fair at the Empire State Plaza in April.

Many pet owners stopped by to learn about the importance of smoke free homes for their pets.
